July 19 regathering information

July 15, 2020

Dear Dallas First Christian Church Family and Friends,

Hello everyone!  I hope this finds you well and finding ways to enjoy the summer.  I wanted to officially let you know that we will be holding an in-house worship service this coming Sunday, July 19th, at 10:30 am.  This will be an experiment as we try and make sure we can still do the Facebook live stream for those who are not with us.  Please feel free to let me know how it goes if you are watching online.

Some special things for this Sunday in addition to the guidelines below.  We will be doing our Fill Our Cart this Sunday with the Cart in the entry area.  As you come in, just place your donation for the Food Bank in the cart.  Also, we would like to have a collection for Cody Ivey who lost everything in a fire a couple weeks ago.  He is in need of staples for the kitchen and other food supplies.  If you would like to donate to Cody as well, please bring your donations and we’ll have a box available.

Let me remind you that as we regather, worship WILL NOT be the same as what it was when we last were together in March.  Because of the COVID 19 virus, there will be many things that are different and will probably remain different for the foreseeable future.  Some of these will be based on governmental guidelines, others as precautions.  These can change from week to week but we will do our best to remain as consistent as possible.  As we look toward regathering, there are certain things that will be happening, and I have tried to list those below.

  • If you are not feeling well or uncomfortable with the state of the virus situation, please stay home.  We will be continuing to Facebook Livestream the 10:30 service.
  • We will not be doing Sunday School at this time and will find a way to do a Bible Study during the week.  We will continue to use Zoom and will be working through a video series called One Way Love.
  • As per state requirements, masks will be required to enter the building and left on at least until you are seated.  Before leaving, masks will need to be replaced.  You are encouraged but not required, to wear masks throughout the service until the communion time.
  • People will pick up Communion elements before entering Sanctuary.  We have purchased prepackaged elements.  You can also bring your own.
  • This will be a BYOBB – Bring Your Own Breakfast Beverage.  No coffee or refreshments available at church for the time being.
  • Sit in seats at least 6 foot distance.  Every other pew will be blocked off.
  • Singing will be minimal and softly.
  • Offering will be done via online or box in the back.
  • No elder prayer time but we will have an opportunity to share prayer requests.
  • Congregation excused by rows to go directly to cars.  Please take the communion cups and deposit in garbage on the way out.
